Breast cancer is one of the major health crises facing women in the United States. By 2024, 310,720 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer and 56,500 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in U.S. women. A projected 42,250 U.S. women will die of breast cancer in 2024. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

There is no cure for breast cancer, and early diagnosis is critical to patient survival.Women who receive mammograms are less likely to die from breast cancer than those who are not screened. However, many people simply cannot afford the cost of screening. If diagnosed late, these women are at higher risk of dying from breast cancer.

Mission Advancement & Foundational Support

The function of every role at NBCF is to advance the mission and programs that help women now. From Breast Cancer Awareness in the Workplace workshops provided to thousands of people across the country, to easy-to-understand educational content created by staff, NBCF continues to meet the needs of those we serve, ensuring the longevity and achievement of our collective vision.

Navigation

Professionally trained patient navigators help patients overcome barriers of cost, fear, and misinformation associated with the complex cancer care system, improving timeliness and continuance of care, reducing cancer disparities, and enhancing quality of life.

Screening

Mammograms and screening services for underserved communities across the country provide the critical early detection and timely treatment needed to significantly improve breast cancer survival rates.

Education

Online educational resources, individually trained community ambassadors, and dozens of regional outreach events help ensure women better understand their breast health and can advocate for the early detection and treatment resources proven to save lives.

Survivor Support

HOPE Kits, filled with thoughtful items known to soothe the side effects of treatment, provide inspiration and the healing power of hope. Metastatic Breast Cancer Retreats help Stage 4 breast cancer patients face their diagnosis and end-of-life care with renewed hope, increased knowledge, and the reminder that they are not alone.

Stewardship and transparency are core values at NBCF. This statement is our best representation of the allocation of funds for our fiscal year 2024. The exact amount invested in each program for the future is subject to change based on meticulous on-going evaluation of need and priority by our programs department.
